Funeral Held Wednesday. It was with much sadness that the news of the death of Mr. U.S. Hamilton was received by his many friends. When we mention his many friends we have to include all of his acquaintances for we do not know of his having a single enemy and every one who knew him were all fond of him. His cheery cordial ways and highly estimable character made him warm friends wherever he was known. He was taken sick about three weeks ago last Saturday and from the first his condition was alarming to his family. His heart action was bad and dropsy added to the organic trouble making it impossible to fight against the disease Nearly all the time he was sick he could not lie down and he suffered a great deal but through it all was his same cheerful kindly self. A week ago last Saturday his son, Mr. Ira Hamilton, of Phoenix, Arizona was sent for, and thus his children and his faithful wife were with him to the end which came peacefully at 4:15 o'clock Monday morning, December 23. His other children, Mr. Jeff Hamilton, Mrs. E.R. Woodford and Miss Sudie, live here. The funeral was held at the house on Christmas morning at 10:30 conducted by Rev. Dr. Crissman and Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Andrews and the body was laid to rest in Rosehill cemetery. The music was appropriate and was furnish by Mr. and Mrs. Beverly Waugh, old friends of the deceased, Mrs. Lu Williams and J.J. Cardwell with Miss Fanny Jay at the piano. The pall bearers were all old friends, also, and were Messrs. George Bogart, T.H. Read, T.N. Pace, T.S. Bower, H.B. Cable and George Cotrill. It was a sad procession of family and friends that followed his body to its last resting place. He was a devoted father, loving husband and true friend and he will be greatly missed in all his accustomed places. The family have the sincere sympathy of many friends who mourn with them the loss of this good man. The following obituary was furnished by the family. Uriah Squire Hamilton was born in Green county, Kentucky, May 18, 1828 his length of life was 79 years, 6 month and 5 days. He left Kentucky with his parents when five years old and the family settled in McDonough county, Ill. There he was raised on a farm and married Miss Catherine Bridges in 1849. She has been his faithful companion in all the years since. He lived in Galesburg ten years and then moved here and followed carpentering and house building. Many are the house here that he could point to as the work of his hands. He was a good singer in his day and while he lay on a dying bed Sudie started to sing "Jesus lover of my Soul", he joined in with great feeling.; It was his last earthly song. In his earlier life he was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church and for many years an Elder therein. But when he lived in Galesburg he united with the Methodist church and remained faithful to that church until a year ago last November when he withdrew to become a charter member of the Christian Science church, in which faith he and wife and daughter, Sudie had become earnest believers. He was the most tender hearted of men, so careful of the feelings of others that the slightest jar or discord wounded him. His true, manly and noble life will hence forth be a fragrant memory to all who knew him Link: Hamilton family of LeRoy, Sask. URL: <http://www3.sk.sympatico.ca/deham>
