HENRY JONES FRIDAY, DECEMBER 19, 1913 Shenandoah Sentinel Post--December 30, 1913 Elizabeth Burgess was born in Fulton county, Ill., Jan. 13, 1837 and departed this life Dec. 19, 1913, at the age of seventy-six years, ten months and nineteen days in Page county, Iowa. She united with the Christian church in girlhood, retaining her faith until death. She was married to Henry T. Jones Jan. 12, 1862. To this union were born nine children, five of whom have passed away; two being buried in Illinois, two in Texas, and one, Josephine, wife of Frank Henderson, at Snow Hill. There are four living children, Clarence of Bingham, J. S., known as Bid, near Page Center; Andrew, near Grand River, and Jane, wife of Levi Griffin, near her parents on the same farm. Their oldest son and daughter, Henry and Lena, are living with their grandparents in their declining years. Mother was a true and devoted wife; a kind and loving mother, a loyal neighbor and friend loved and respected by all who knew her. The funeral service was conducted by Pastor F. D. Ferrall of Shenandoah at the late home two miles southeast of Bingham, Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1913, at 2:00 oclock p.m. and the interment was made in Snow Hill cemetery. The following is a partial list of the near relatives, the majority of whom were present at the funeral; Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Shields of Red Oak, Ia.; Frank Henderson of North Loup, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jones of Yorktown, Ia.; J. S. Jones of Page Center, Ia.; Andrew Jones of Grand River, Ia.; Row Jones of Panora, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Griffin of Shenandoah, Ia.; George Jones of Lewiston, Ill.; Mrs. Sallie Whitnah of Clarinda, Ia.; and Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Still of Essex, Ia. The bereaved husband and father, Henry Jones, will continue to live upon the farm where he has spent the past thirty-five years of his life. Shenandoah Sentinel Post--December 26, 1913 Andy Jones was called from Grand River Saturday on account of the serious illness of his mother. Although he came at once, he came too late to see her alive. Shenandoah World--July 31, 1914 Henry Jones, living near Norwich, had the body of his wife buried last winter at Snow Hill and which, accidentally, owing to the deep snow at the time of her death, was buried on a lot belonging to another person, taken up on Monday and buried on his own lot.
