Hammond is not a direct line, but Simons is. There are several half-brother, half-sister connections on both of these families. John Hammond if he is father to Elisha by first wife Fanny (unknown),and maybe Peremelia Ann Simmons or Simons might be daughter of Hosea Simons & Mary Sprague? Hosea died in Page Co. IA. I have yet to prove that and I need to get a will on him, if there is one. I only have 4 known children for Hosea, but age differences leave a poss- ibilty for other children. I will find my Hammond family sheets and see if I have any Elisha on them. John Hammond was in Tyler Co. VA/WVA for a while, later to OH and Audrain Co. MO, if he is related to Elisha. Does anyone out there have an connection with the Horning family who lived in Page County in the late 1800s? Jacob Horning and Anna Good moved to Page County with their ten children in 1864 (there were two more children born in Page County). I believe this branch of the Horning family is related to mine, which lived across the state in Washington and Keokuk Counties. They both came originally from Spachbruecken, Starkenburg, Hesse, Germany, and settled in the same part of Pennsylvania before heading west. Hello List, I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some advice on ordering in the 1905 State Census for Iowa from the Family History Center. I am interested in Page County. These are the two choices: Census Register 1905 - Author: Executive Council #FHL 1026507 Iowa State Census 1905 - Author: Director of the Census #FHL 1430564. It states that many of the records are difficult or impossible to read. Has anyone every viewed the 1905 census for Page County? Is is impossible or very difficult to read? Just thought I might get some helpful advice before I placed an order. Thank you very much. Kristy
