Mrs. Parr is one of Glenwood's highly esteemed pioneer ladies. She had been in her usual health until about ten days prior to her death attending to her household duties. Her son, David Parr has made his home with her for a number of years. Mrs. Parr was a quiet unassuming woman, dearly loved by those who knew her best. She was a kind mother and a good neighbor. Funeral services were held from the Christian church Thursday afternoon, Nov 27, conducted by the pastor, Rev. D.S. Thompson. Music was furnished by Mesdames F.V. Kemp and O. Altekruse and Messrs. T.A. White and J.W. Morgan with Miss Elsie Evans , pianist. Pallbearers were the Messrs. H.A. Darthing, Paul Snuffin, Guy Mayberry, S.F. Vinton, A. Stout and J.R. Ross. Interment in the Glenwood cemetery. The following life sketch was read at the services: Nancy Harlan was born at Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana, May 7 1843. She was the daughter of Aaron and Jennie Harlan. She came with her parents to Osceola Iowa in 1853 and lived there until 1865 when she was united in marriage to J. W. Parr. Then she moved to Sheridan, Iowa until 18178 when they moved to Glenwood, Iowa, where she has lived until her death. To this union were born seven children, one dying in infancy. Aaron who died at the age of 23. Mrs. Parr is survived by three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Laura Wright and Dave Parr of Glenwood, Iowa; Sarah Glennen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Ellen VanKirk of Fairfield Nebraska, Arch Parr of Olathe Kansas. Two brothers Noah Harlan Lincoln Nebraska and Hosea Harlan Long Beach California. One sister Sarah Glenn of Osceola Iowa. She died Wednesday morning November 26th, 1924 at the age of 81 years 6 months and 21 days.
