I have been asked by so many who didn't receive this message if I would re-send it. For those of you who did get it please just hit the delete key. Hi Listers, Margaret has just uploaded the 1885 Births for Mills County. This probably concludes the posting of Births for a while and on to something else. (Since this was sent we have added the 1903 Marriages and the Surname Registry has been updated) We wanted to alert you to the ailing Search Engine. We have probably maxed out the number of pages the Search Engine will handle. It tells us that it is searching 529 pages and we have quite a few more than that. Just be aware that Solomon's History, the 1880 Rawles Twp., the Surname Registry, the 1903 marriages, the 1885 births and probably other things are not being searched. You can always use the "Find" or "Find in Page" to search a page. I am back from a 3 week vacation. I was able to spend 3 days in Glenwood and other Mills County locations. Did some research on my own family this year. As usual, Denise Crawford and the staff at the Library continued to be extremely helpful. Those of us interested in Mills County should be grateful we have such people to work with. I have a suggestion. Would some of you like to help out the Mills County Genealogical Society? They would sure appreciate some new members. All their membership dues and/or donations go into a fund to buy new genealogical books for the Library. They have a great collection for a library of that size. Much of the material on our Mills web site has been copied from collections found at the library. Membership Dues are only $4.00 per year due in January. Membership entitles you to 4 issues of the newsletter. You may have one query with each issue. There are many Mills people who subscribe who don't have a computer so you reach a new group of researchers. Rachel Carlile, a volunteer from the Genealogical Society, comes in every Tuesday to answer the queries and requests that come in by snail mail and e-mail. They have one of the best obituary files I have ever run across. They charge only $5.00 per hour plus photocopying charges. One of the best bargains in genealogy. Contact Mills County Genealogical Society, c/o Glenwood Public Library, 109 N. Vine, Glenwood IA 51534 or if you want to use your e-mail contact me for directions. By the way, I was alerted by one of the list members that the Fremont-Mills Beacon-Enterprise, the newspaper, is now online. It is kind of fun to look even if their information is too recent for our purposes, usually. http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?brd=2043 (Another new URL is http://www.millscountyiowa.com/ It is a welcome to Mills County towns, interesting.) No sooner said than done. This is the type of spam I mentioned in my last e-mail to you. Somehow it creeps through the spam zappers at rootsweb. I have reported this to abuse at rootsweb and it will be taken care of. Don't even click on the address at the bottom to have your name removed. This tells them they have caught a real live working e-mail address. Cay -- Cay Merryman http://www.rootsweb.com/~iamills/
Hello Listers, I certainly hope that the recent problems with the mailing list messages has been resolved. Of course there have been no messages the past week so it is hard to tell. This letter is serving as kind of a test. Many of you have already found that the 1903 Mills marriages are on the "What's New" list. We have 2 more years of marriages coming up then we will be switching to something else. I hope that many of you have decided to help out the Mills County Genealogical Society with your support (as described in a letter a couple of weeks ago, which some of you might not have received). One thing I wanted to mention, there are things going on with mailing lists and message boards which are causing some concern. There is a great deal of spam on the internet these days and a small amount of it seems to be getting through to some mailing lists. There are also some who are posting messages on the Message Boards containing fraudulent advertising. I try to catch these right away and delete them. Just be aware. We appreciate the support we receive from all of you. Cay -- Cay Merryman http://www.rootsweb.com/~iamills/
I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one that isn't getting mail. Thanks for letting me know. I will be patient and wait for the problem to get corrected. Carol Utah

Carol, I don't think there has been any mail going across the list for the last few days. I haven't received any either. How about some mail, listers. The archives are down and there are many glitches going on concerning spam, bounces and other things. Hope things will soon settle down. I have an uncle and a first cousin among that info-Richard Y. Kelley and William H. Kelley. Thanks! Patty Rich

I am much hoping for some help looking up more info: I discovered my Robert William Stewart b 1840 OH d 3-25-1922 in Glenwood, Mills County IA and that he is buried in Waubonsie Cemetery in Rawles Township Mills County. I am curious about this cemetery and if there is any information about Robert William there. Maybe his wife is buried by him too and maybe some children? The wife is Sarah Catherine Richardson d abt 1894. They had Alma, Arthur, Frank, Hattie, Jess, John Isaac b 1864 d 1927 but this one is buried in Malvern Cemetery in Mills County, Clara Jane b 1872 d 1938 buried in Glenwood Cemetery Mills County, Leroy Burton b 1875 buried in Yakima WA, and Sherman Floyd b 1887 d when? Again, anyone willing to assist me in cemetery lookup and maybe an obit lookup for Robert William, or anything that think will help that I am not thinking of? Questions? Thank you ever so much--in advance. Anne-Marie
I have not been receiving messages for awhile. Ken

I am looking for the address and phone number for Wesley Chapel. My Great grandfather's brother Robert Suhr is buried there and was hoping they would have some kind of information on his death. Thanks in advance Brenda

There are postings hitting all of the Message Boards with addresses of Mills@Mills.com or Fremont@Fremont.com or whatever county's Board is hit. The claim is made of billions of names available for low cost. It is a SCAM. Do not go there. Board Administrators all over the US are deleting these messages from their Boards. The return address is > Angie's Genealogy Research Database > Angie Giles, P.O.Box 873, Rowlett, TX 75030-0873 > Angie Giles <AngieGenealogy@go.com> Don't send money. Beware!
