Tonight Margaret uploaded Fairview Cemetery and fixed the glitches we had with the Wall and Pleasant View/Estes Cemeteries. We also have a link to the very small Saar Cemetery which you can find on the Cemetery Index page under Early Burial Grounds. Also the Surname Registry has been updated. When something new is added to the web site please let Margaret know if you see anything wrong, or links which don't work. The site doesn't always show the same thing to those using Explorer as to those using Netscape and vice versa. Do any of you have really good photos of the headstone of an early ancestor buried in a Mills County Cemetery? If you would care to scan them to Margaret, along with information about identity etc. she will put them on the web site, eventually. They need to be clear enough to show well, and of course digital camera pics would be the best. She will have to make the final decision as to whether they are clear enough and old enough to use. If you have questions about this please contact Margaret. Thanks. Cay -- Cay Merryman http://www.rootsweb.com/~iamills/
Hi Listers, We have a project underway which we think is going to be exciting for all of us. Tonight Margaret has uploaded two Mills County Cemeteries. For several years we have searched for someone who could give us permission to copy the cemeteries from the Mills County Cemetery Book, no one could be found. Then a wonderful volunteer, Scott Larson stepped forward and offered to walk and verify the smaller cemeteries. We were thrilled. Scott has been very busy the past month but now snow has finally fallen in Mills County so we will have to go slow for a while. The two cemeteries Scott has completed are the small Wall Cemetery and the Pleasant Hills/Estes Cemetery. Also in that index are two other cemeteries done by other members of our mailing list, Randy Beck who has done the Mineola Cemetery and Keith Brandt who has a web site for the Salem-Plumer Lutheran Cemetery. We have links to their web sites. We hope you all will take a look at the new additions and watch for those to come. Thanks to Scott Larson, to Keith Brandt and to Randy Beck. There are many others to thank for helping with adding information to the Mills County site, that will come in another letter. Good Hunting. Cay and Margaret

Please, when writing to change your e-mail address, I can change it on the mailing list without much effort if you tell me whether you are on the L list or the D list. If you want Margaret to change your address on the Mills Surname Registry, please give her the surnames you have registered so she does not have to go through the entire list watching for your e-mail address. We have some interesting things which will hit our web site soon. Thanks. Cay -- Cay Merryman http://www.rootsweb.com/~iamills/

The death of this estimable woman, wife and mother, is one of the saddest reminders of the frailty of human nature that has come to us in years. She was a beloved wife and the mother of nine children, all needing a mother's love, care and attention, the eldest, a daughter aged 19, and the youngest but two and a half years old. Her children are Grace, Martin, Ethel, Jessie, Gladys, Nina, Arthur, Donald and Julia. A daughter Winifred died Feb. 16, 1891 age five years. She had been ailing some time and gradually growing weaker until at last nature gave out, when her spirit passed on to the Great Beyond.
