Surnames: Hensel, Morrow, Scott Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Fl.2ADE/51.79.252.254 Message Board Post: I am also researching Levi Hensel and the Hensel family. Levi's daughter Ellen M. came to California, possibly with her brother John L. since they were both enumerated in the 1910 census in Tulare Co, California. I am very interested in finding out what happened to Levi's 1st wife, the mother of these 2 children, Mary Jane Morrow. Her mother, Esther U. (Scott) Morrow, came to California as well and was buried in Stockton. I lost track of Mary Jane after the divorce,1887 in Colorado. Any information would be gladly accepted. Karen

I have the Bliss famly three volume set and some of the data you posted matches my George Z. He was the second child of George and Emily Bliss Munson, born 1836 in Clarkstown, Indiana. He is listed with his parents in the Henry Co., IA census of 1850. Then, acording to the Bliss book(s), he married Harriet H. Newton, 10/10/1861, had 4 children and died 3/28/1869 in Oskaloosa. I found Harriet with the kids in the 1870 census for Oskaloosa. Any of this sound familiar? Am willing to trade information. Thanks, Sherry

Surnames: Nash, McClain or McLain, Laraway, Lee Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Fl.2ADE/1726.2 Message Board Post: My family line comes from John and Sarah Nash. They actually had four children die. Jane died January 18, 1827 at five months old in England. Mary, the youngest, died August 29, 1842 on the ship to America, and Sarah, the oldest, died when they landed in New York sometime in 1842. The fourth child to die was Henry. He was 16 years old and died when the entire family got sick while heading west with black swamp fever in Wisconsin. According the book John Nash Sr. wrote, Harriet married John Laughrey in Knox County Ohio? My mother somehow misplaced the book after my father's death, but the Licking County Geneaolical Society has a copy. I believe that my family line from James Nash, the second child of John Sr. and Sarah Nash. Any other info you have would be wonderful. My grandfather, Lee C. Nash, also married Katherine McClain. She was the grandaughter of Caroline Nash McClain, also a child of John and Sarah Nash and the great great aunt of Lee.

As far as I can find Edith Maude Carver was born June 08, 1897, in Barne City, Pleasant Grove TWP, Mahaska Co. Iowa. There should be a birth record in Mahaska County for her but have not been able to find it. She married Elmer Guy Kirby February 20, 1913 in Montezuma, Poweshiek Co. Iowa. There were no parents on the marriage records. I have been told that Curt or Curtis Carver was her father and Jennie Mae Jones was her mother. Any help you can give me will be apreciated.

I can check Census records more easily with that. There were several Carver brothers and other related men that traveled the river system from Kentucky and ended up in Mahaska, Iowa. I will check my records and see if any had a son named Curt or Curtis. Some marriage records list the father's names, have you tried obtaining the original from the county Edith was married in? I will let you know if I find any thing.

The story said that the town was told they were going to have a railroad, and the town boomed. Then the railroad decided to go farther south and the town faded away as did other small town around What Cheer. The author drew a picture of what he was told the town was like and it was about 4 or 5 city blocks. Going back to that area many times, you cannot tell there was anything ever in that field. There is no sign of a railroad. I just checked http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/gmdhtml/rrhtml/rrmapRailro02.html This was 1868 and there was no railroad in Indianapolis on this map. Hope this helps.

The other railroad of that time period went through Oskaloosa and Knoxville Iowa.
