Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Fl.2ADE/1803.1 Message Board Post: Coalfied appears to have been in Monroe County. In "The Heritage of Mahaska County, Iowa--2000," p. 73, there is reference to union miners marching toward Eddyville from Avery, Coalfield, "and other coal centers in Monroe County..." Avery is definitely in Monroe County, and from the foregoing one might assume that Coalfield was too, although it doesn't show up on a modern map.
