Have over 3000 dill names in data base, including married in names and their families. Can remember maybe 50 or so at a time and then have to refer to data base. > There is a Madison > County Ohio which is next to Franklin County, Ohio The Smiths lived in > Franklin County Correct, and the bio says they lived Muscatine first, then Marengo, then Keokuk Co, then he gets married to Dill , lives in Keokuk County, sorta think about 3-4 years and then to madison co. > before they came to Keokuk County, Iowa in about 1852 as > Samuel and John Smith are both included in the State of Iowa Census of that > year. In bio history of Adair Co., Ia 1884, the following condensation. William R. Smith is son of John and Rebecca Duel Smith. Born Franklin Co. Ky, He is the 8th child. (does not list earlier or later children) Married Sarah Dill in Keokuk County Ia , Jan 27, 1859. Lived in Keokuk County, then to Madison County (Sarahs father was there) then to Dakota, then back to Madison Co, then Adair County, and then are gone.!!!!!!!!! No marriages, no deaths, no births in Adair County. Did the William R. Smith married to Sarah Dill go to Kansas,? dont have the slightest. Sure wish I knew. Do you know? If so where did they go ? Maybe Emporia? Sarahs oldest "Thomas" brother was in Emporia after the civil war. Can you shed any light on this??? I have his obit. Reason I may sound pushy, and apologize, John Dill my g g grandfather was father of Sarah Dill Smith. John and second wife Lucinda Workman were living in Madison County. John Dies 10 Mar 1886. John's son Daniel, my g grandfather says in some letters or writings that John didnt get along to well with the second wife. Daniel did not like her at all. Wierd thing is 1. 2 cousins who are a lot better at this game than I have searched every record in Madison and Adair county Iowa. 2. John did not purchase any land there, (he owned about 400 acres plus a sawmill when he left Keokuk County with wife Lucinda) 3. is listed in census 1860 Madison Co. Ia. as a laborer, or vet depending, have seen them and read the words personally, Family records show his death date, Have death place as anywhere from sigourney, , Keokuk County, Ia, (not a chance) Winterset, Madison Co., Ia (if he is there , $2000 of expense and searching cant find him) Adair County Ia (bet the farm he isnt there) Found Lucindas probate, know the cem she is buried in in Madison Co., Ia, not a trace of JOHN!!!! John was too old at the time to take off to Ca, as an example for almost any reason. Have personally suspected he went to Adair County and lived with Dau. Only 30 mile away. Good buggy ride in those days in one day. John is not ever listed as living witht the Smiths in any census, including the speical Adair County census in I believe 1875. Could have gone with the dau. Didnt know they moved to Ks. Again do you have any idea where???? When??? Would sure appreciate any information!!!! William R. and Sarah Dill Smith had the following children of record and knowledge. There may have been more. Rebecca D. A. M. C. W. Samuel F. Ida May Ada J Elmer Do you have any indication what the initials stood for??? Should be a law against listing people by their initials, :(. Thank you very much for what ever information you may have. Will gladly print out the entire bio for you, gedcom or what ever I have. The other 2 cousins do alot of work also, but am the only one with a computer and know data base, so I get the entering job. Look forward to hearing from you . Thanks again. cdp > > > Did the Dill family moved to Kansas? What are the names of the Smith's in > your family?
