Jane K., When you are in Winterset, you should also check out the new Museum on the south edge of town (near the hospital). They have a small genealogy library in addition to the exhibits. They may not charge admission for library use only, though I'm not totally sure on that. A visit to City Park and the Winterset Cemetery are also worth your while. Also, if you are in Des Moines you might want to check out the Iowa Genealogical Society on Douglas Ave across from the Merle Hay Mall. They are listed in the phone books or do a net search for them.
