    3. I have a clue for some of you that posted about BURD and RHODES lines. In researching my TRAVIS line I read the article about Thomas Hamlin TRAVIS in the 1915 Madison County History. In 1885, he married Eliza Alice BURD b. 27 Mar 1867 in Madison county. She was a daughter of Anderson and Elizabeth Ann (RHODES) BURD. The article talks about Thomas Hamlin TRAVIS homesteading in Rawlins County, KS in 1888 and staying there for eight years then he returned to Madison County. When the article for the 1915 history book was written Anderson and Elizabeth Ann (RHODES) BURD were "early settlers in Madison County now residing in Rawlins County, KS". I suspect that Thomas Hamlin TRAVIS and his in-laws and maybe others left Madison county to homestead in Rawlins County, KS about 1888. There may be other BURD and RHODES people that went to KS at this time. Glenn York
