I am new to the Madison Co mailing list. My gg grandfather, Charles Edwin Booth b:3-22-1859 Guernsey Co., OH d:1921 Madison Co., IA married Elvina McClain b:1864 d:1906 Madison Co., IA on 2-10-1881 in Madison Co., IA. Children: Jennie May, Lizzie Alice (my line-married Oscar Lee Peacock), Jessie Belle, Roy Ellsworth, Clyde Edwin, James Wesley, Nellie Grace, & Clarence William. I also have several questions: I am going to be visiting Madison Co in July. I am interested in getting some vital records. On the Vital Records website, it says that Iowa prefers people to get records from Des Moines-but they do not have the records that I need. Can I go to the county clerk at Winterset to get records? How much are copies? Since I am doing genealogy, should I get certified copies or are regular copies ok to have? Thank you so much for your help.
