Hello Carlene, I am a direct descendant of the Moores and the Howards of Winterset. Dexter Howard and Elizabeth (Moore) Howard were my great great grandparents. The Moores came from Scott County, Virginia. Dexter's father, Thomas Howard, was born in Massachusetts, went to Chautauqua county, New York, where he farmed and married Philinda Melinda Morgan. (Her parents, Elisha and Harriet Morgan were from Massachusetts also.) They had all of their sons there. They then went to Kendall County, Illinois and farmed there also. They had their daughter, Harriet, there. Then they all came to Madison county, Iowa, where they also farmed. If you would like to know more about them please let me know.
