    3. If you check the "home" page and look at the Iowa counties, many don't have any entries. We are fortunate to have several madison county cemeteries listed. This site is based on volunteers providing information. I think it is great that we have people doing research in Madison county that are providing information to help others. This site did not have the cemeteries I am most interested in listed, but instead of complaining I would like to help index some of the others so they can be added to this site. Glenn York

    3. No it doesn't have any listing for the cemetery at St Patrick's Church. There aren't many cemeteries listed there for Madison County. Sorry the site didn't help some of you. It didn't help me out much either. There were only about 8 relatives from my tree. Nobody I was really looking for either. Jessica

    3. Jessica: Thanks for posting the Madison County Cemetary records.Unfortunatly, the list is yet uncomplete. The East Peru cemetary is not listed, and that is where my family is buried(grandmother,g-grandparents. I am hoping this cemetary will be included soon.We visited there this past summer, and it is a well kept cemetary just outside the town of Peru. speaking of Peru, if anyone ever comes across a book about the "History of East Peru" that is for sale, Please keep me in mind, no matter what the cost, I would be willing to pay for it.There was only 1 printing for the centennial celebration, and that was on pre-order basis. Again, thanks Jessica for sharing this information. Nan (Alias Ms. Magoo) Please Support Macular Degeneration And Other Vision Loss Research http://members.aol.com/danlrob/MDpeople/

    3. Hello all... I've posted before, just changed my email address again and re-sub'd. I haven't posted this information in awhile. I'm hoping to catch a new person who has something wonderful to share with me. I am researching the surname DORRELL (mainly) I am looking for information on my ggg grandparents, Nicholas DORRELL and Mary Jane BELCHER. I need to know where they were born, a full birth date (birth years are 1857 and 1864, respectively) and who their parents were. I know they moved to Winterset, Madison County, sometime after 1882. Nicholas died in 1923 and Mary died in 1936 they are buried at the cemetary located at the Primitive Baptist Church in Madison. Nicholas was a farmer. Their children were: Walter Lyle (maybe Wallace), Gold Sylvester, Anthony, and possibly another. Thanks, Jessica Zielinski Surnames: DORRELL, ARMOUR, GORDON, CLARK, CLANTON, GIDEON

    3. The Dills in Iowa descend from Peter and Phoebe Brown and Sarah Wimmer. 16 of them, and kept having large families till 1930's depression. That cut it to about 5, and now are to 3. Do you know where they were married??? There were and still are Dills around Mt. Ayr that are of Peters line, and didnt even know it till a few days ago. Alot of Dills of this line around Emporia, and next county west. Also think some of the 1880's area are in first county west of MKC, just dont or havent taken the time to get that far forward. If you can help me with marriage location, can probably answer. am finding family more and more in western Ia and Ks. Reason for slowness is that old family story was that A. Lincoln was Dill family Atty in Sangamon Co Ill before he went into politics, Always though, yeah, and I am George Washington. Was at Ill Hist soc. this summer, and Lincoln handled legal work for Dills , 12 pages worth of cases, so have been chasing that one around the field. Got to get focused back west again. Await your reply. thanks for the mail!! cdp SWR4738@aol.com wrote: > This probably has no connection with your family, but - - - > > The History of Kansas, Vol I, by Andreas, page 517 has a biographic sketch of > a John Carson, living in Jefferson Co, KS. In bio history of Adair Co., Ia 1884, the following condensation. William R. Smith is son of John and Rebecca Duel Smith. Born Franklin Co. Ky, He is the 8th child. (does not list earlier or later children) Married Sarah Dill in Keokuk County Ia , Jan 27, 1859. Lived in Keokuk County, then to Madison County (Sarahs father was there) then to Dakota, then back to Madison Co, then Adair County, and then are gone.!!!!!!!!! No marriages, no deaths, no births in Adair County. Did the William R. Smith married to Sarah Dill go to Kansas,? dont have the slightest. Sure wish I knew. Do you know? If so where did they go ? Maybe Emporia? Sarahs oldest "Thomas" brother was in Emporia after the civil war. Can you shed any light on this??? I have his obit. Reason I may sound pushy, and apologize, John Dill my g g grandfather was father of Sarah Dill Smith. John and second wife Lucinda Workman were living in Madison County. John Dies 10 Mar 1886. John's son Daniel, my g grandfather says in some letters or writings that John didnt get along to well with the second wife. Daniel did not like her at all. Wierd thing is 1. 2 cousins who are a lot better at this game than I have searched every record in Madison and Adair county Iowa. 2. John did not purchase any land there, (he owned about 400 acres plus a sawmill when he left Keokuk County with wife Lucinda) 3. is listed in census 1860 Madison Co. Ia. as a laborer, or vet depending, have seen them and read the words personally, Family records show his death date, Have death place as anywhere from sigourney, , Keokuk County, Ia, (not a chance) Winterset, Madison Co., Ia (if he is there , $2000 of expense and searching cant find him) Adair County Ia (bet the farm he isnt there) Found Lucindas probate, know the cem she is buried in in Madison Co., Ia, not a trace of JOHN!!!! John was too old at the time to take off to Ca, as an example for almost any reason. Have personally suspected he went to Adair County and lived with Dau. Only 30 mile away. Good buggy ride in those days in one day. John is not ever listed as living witht the Smiths in any census, including the speical Adair County census in I believe 1875. Could have gone with the dau. Didnt know they moved to Ks. Again do you have any idea where???? When??? Would sure appreciate any information!!!! William R. and Sarah Dill Smith had the following children of record and knowledge. There may have been more. Rebecca D. A. M. C. W. Samuel F. Ida May Ada J Elmer Do you have any indication what the initials stood for??? Should be a law against listing people by their initials, :(. Thank you very much for what ever information you may have. Will gladly print out the entire bio for you, gedcom or what ever I have. The other 2 cousins do alot of work also, but am the only one with a computer and know data base, so I get the entering job. Look forward to hearing from you . Thanks again. cdp > > > Did the Dill family moved to Kansas? What are the names of the Smith's in > your family?

    2. Most of the time I do most of my stuff from memory. There is a Madison County Ohio which is next to Franklin County, Ohio The Smiths lived in Franklin County before they came to Keokuk County, Iowa in about 1852 as Samuel and John Smith are both included in the State of Iowa Census of that year. They moved to Madison County, Iowa inthe 1860's as they were there when theyhad the 1870 census. John had a daughter that stayed in Ohio on the "Old Home Place". She married Samuel Hunter and had several children. She is in places called Ann, but on the 1850 U.S. Census she is listed as Annette. Did the Dill family moved to Kansas? What are the names of the Smith's in your family?
