Those cemeteries that are done, sent to the webmaster and not posted yet are: Fairview, Hooten, Kivett, Old Penn, Penn Center, Peru, Union Chapel and Wight. The cemeteries that are not transcribed yet are: Beem, Fidler, Hartman, Jefferson - Goar, King, McGinnis, Montpelier, Moon, North Branch, North McDonald, Pitzer - Eppard, Pleasant View, Powell, Primitive Baptist, St. Charles, St. Patrick, Trester, Winterset, Worthington, and Young Once I get all of these completed, I am going to make a master list and it will be posted on the Madison County website so you will be able to search through it. If anyone has any question, additions or corrections, please contact me at: jlwight@northlink.com Thank you, Judy

    3. My file on the writes dates back to Daniel Wright. I thought Richard Wright was the last in 1710 but Daniel was in 1674 in Wethersfield, Conn. Later the family seems to originate in Rowan N. C. and that area ans spread out from there. 3. I am not sure where these people are from without going through all the pages and pages of printed out family history I have here. It is about 1" thick. It would be easier with names, but I will research the documents I have and get back to you. I am not familiar with counties of the area either. I was born In Ft. Madison and that is where my grandmother lived for a long time, but my father was born in Bible Grove, Mo. and his mother died in Mo. I am sure there were relatives all over that area and my grandfather was Alvin Lemuel Wright Vickie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Judy Wight Branson" <jlwight@northlink.com> To: <IAMADISO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 17, 2000 9:57 AM Subject: Re: [IAMADISO] Fw: > Hi Vickie, > > Do you have any information on the Wright's of Madison County, Iowa? > If so, I would be interested in what you have on them. 3. Hi Vicki, I am a descendant of Martha Ann (Mobley) Wright who came to Madison County, IA with her children in 1854. Born in North Carolina, her family migrated to Indiana for a number of years before coming to Iowa. Martha's husband was Simeon (Simon) Wright and he is known to be buried in Morgan County, Indiana, where he died in 1852. Martha was often called Patsy and was a school teacher. Do you have any information on these Wrights? Thanks, Doug in Saint Paul B Drew wrote: > > Hello, > I just wanted to let you know I have extensive information on Wrights from > Iowa,Indiana and Illinois. 3. Hi Evelyn and Carlene, I'm addressing this to both of you because of the Howard's, Moore's and the Wight's. I would love to talk to both of you as I am also connected to the Wight's and through them, the Howard's. Harriet M. Howard married James E. Wight on February 03, 1859 in Madison County, Iowa. Of that marriage, seven children were born. All five of their sons died at an early age and only the two daughters lived to adulthood, married and had children. Harriet was in ill health for many years and spent some of her later years in a "sanitarium" at Clarinda, Iowa. I am James and Harriet's great-grandniece and have done extensive work in Madison County. If you would contact me privately, I will send you what I have on any of the people in question. I ask that you contact me privately because what I have , I can send to you as an attachment. Also, I would love further information on the Moore and Howard lines. I will help you fill in all of the information that I can. Hoping to hear from both of you Judy Wight Branson jlwight@northlink.com ----- Original Message ----- From: <SNewton284@aol.com> To: <IAMADISO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, January 16, 2000 10:47 PM Subject: Re: [IAMADISO] Fw: > Hello Carlene, > I am a direct descendant of the Moores and the Howards of Winterset. 1. [IAMADISO] WIGHT and HOWARD
    2. Evelyn, If I may jump in here, according to my family information, Harriet M. Howard born about 1838 in LaGrange, IL, married James E WIGHT on February 3, 1859. They had two boys, Forest Lee and Charles M WIGHT. James E WIGHT is my great granduncle. Please make my side of the family happy and note that it is WIGHT not Wright. My information on Harriet was nil, so I'm very pleased with your email about the Howard and Moore families. SWR

The Moores came from Scott County, Virginia. Dexter's father, Thomas Howard, was born in Massachusetts, went to Chautauqua county, New York, where he farmed and married Philinda Melinda Morgan. (Her parents, Elisha and Harriet Morgan were from Massachusetts also.) They had all of their sons there. They then went to Kendall County, Illinois and farmed there also. They had their daughter, Harriet, there. Then they all came to Madison county, Iowa, where they also farmed. If you would like to know more about them please let me know. Maybe you could fill me in on the Wrights. I have very little on them. What is your connection to this family???? Into family, Evelyn (Howard) Ferguson

    3. Pam, The way I access the obits is to click on Archives on the left side of the index page. That takes you directly to both obituary collections in the archives and they are in alpha order so it is easy to check. Richard Ellsworth Lyons is in the 2nd collection which I just abstracted recording only the genealogical info. I do not have access to the originals which are in the Truro Library. One of these collections is called the Lyons Collection and I suppose it is the 2nd one which has several Lyons obits. Hope it is who you want. Cay BTW - All mailing list letters with an aol. address have been bouncing today. Yours included. It might be corrected by now. If you don't get any mail through the list you will know why. > Dear Cay, > I came across the name of Richard Ellsworth Lyons when I was reviewing the > Obit. List. 3. With no dates and no indication of what township these people lived in there is little to go on. If you want to look in the 1915 Madison County History index which I referred to in an earlier posting to see if these people are mentioned then I would be able to type a biography. However, most people are not listed. There is a J.D. Bell and a John J. Bell mentioned in the index to the 1879 history but don't know if it might be your family. I don't have the pages this index refers to here at home. These two county histories and the 1850, 1856, 1880 and 1910 censuses are the only reference material I have. For census lookup, since there is no index except for the 1850, I need a specific place in the county. I do not do anything without a sure relationship to that person stated in the request. Please, always put the surnames you are interested in on the Subject line of your e-mail.
