Judy- Thank you so much for all your hard work on behalf of Madison County researchers, good luck with the remodeling, and have a great vacation. Dear Judy, Just in case someone asks: James T. Laizure (1831-1911) went to Cherokee Co., KS. His wife was Lavina Gram from Tuscarawas co., Ohio. All his living children went with him His brother William Hamilton Laizure remained in Madison County. William, wife Nancy, and many of his children & grandchildren are buried in the McDonald-Chase Cemetery. Thanks for all you do. I have corresponded with a Laizure who tromped across Madison County looking for the grave of little John J. Laizure. We thought he died when he was about 12. Now we have a time and a place for him. And I emailed my cousin with the information, so he doesn't have to cover the whole county on foot! Regards, Sharon Hofer
Dear Judy, I would like to thank you also for the hard work of entering the info on the Cemetery. I went to the Peru Cemetery two years ago and found one of the two babies born to Simeon and Mary Hultz Burd. I never did find Milly May. But when I went to your listing I found her. Thank you for that and I now have the dates. Have a great week. Cynthia Burd Griebel EASTMAN, ABEL, HOUSE, ACKERMAN, BURD, THURMAN
I am looking for a marriage license for Solomon Lewis Perkins and wife Catherine. He was married to Orpha in Dec. 1849 and lived in Keokuk County in 1860. In 1870 I found him in Madison county with the wife Catherine, but don't know when they got married. I assume that Orpha must have passed away, but don't know when or where.. Orpha and Solomon had children: Ruthinda, Sarah, Isaac M. and Emily Catherine (my grandmother). William was born around 1867 to Catherine and Solomon. There may have been other children after that, but 1870 is the last year that I can find any of them except for my grandmother who eventually arrived in Colorado and married my grandfather in 1886. If you have or know where I can find any information on these people, I would grealy appreciate it. Thank you so much. Joy Stockment gulring@aol.com

Today I decided to go down the list of cemeteries in Madison County until I found the burial site of the young son of James Laizure and his wife Lavina. I found it. He's buried in Old Penn Cemetery: J. J. Laisure died 12-30-1872. age 10 years and 21 days. Thank you so much. The family left Madison county for Kansas in 1874, and I wanted to know where John was buried. Sharon Laizure Hofer in Ontario, Calif.
Hi Madison County Researchers, The Young Cemetery is now online and ready to search at: http://www.interment.net/ I have the Powell Cemetery submitted and it should be online any day. This will probably be the last cemetery transcribed for about six weeks. I am in the middle of house remodeling and getting ready to leave for a 3 week vacation in the middle of April. In other words, "busy". <g> I will pick up where I left off upon my return in the middle of May. I am also trying to catch-up on all of my inquiries before I leave. Thank you, Judy Wight Branson jlwight@northlink.com

You requested 1870 Crawford Twp, Madison Co. lookup for: Hughart, Campbell, Mary and Melvina You are so tremendously lucky I can't believe it! The several pages of Crawford township are just totally unreadable! Had you NOT given me those first names I would have strained my eyes and given up...and you gave me the suggested reference to look for the different spelling.... you gave me so much specific info...I couldn't help but find them! Also...there are others in the family, strange names and I'll send you more details privately! ...here ya go: Page 1 (left side)Crawford Twp., Madison Co, IA 1870 21st day of ? 1870 Hanghart, Campbell (53?) You requested 1860 Madison Co., Winterset Twp for Henry Bond and I found him! Funny thing, the Winterset pages seem to flow thru out the film, not necessarily alphabetical and it changes from City of Winterset to Winterset and other pages are Post Office Winterset so I searched around some other pages to be sure he's the right one...and he's it! The Young Cemetery will be ready to post in about two weeks and the 1880-1900 marriage records will be ready to be posted in about one week. Thank you, Judy jlwight@northlink.com
Hi Joy, In checking the two "burial indexes" for Madison County, I find no record for any of the names that you are searching for. Sorry that I couldn't have been of some help to you. It really doesn't matter to me how you send them to me, with each one, I will do it as soon as possible...........I'm easy.......just a bit busy at times........<g> Judy ----- Original Message ----- From: <roots2us@webtv.net> To: <IAMADISO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 07, 2000 9:58 AM Subject: Re: [IAMADISO] Andrew JOHNSON Family > Judy, do you have a fax?
