The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, May 3, 1906 MR. LAFARRE SMITH, an old pioneer of Lucas County, living east of Newbern, died Tuesday afternoon of pneumonia. MR. SMITH was a man of sterling qualities and highly esteemed by those who knew him. He was an old soldier being a member of the thirty-fourth regiment of Iowa volunteers.
