I didn't recognize any of the names in these news stories, but thought it interesting as my mom was born in Derby Iowa in 1893 and lived there until about 1910 when her parents sold their farm and moved to Louisiana (much to their chagrin). I imagine they were acquainted with the people mentioned. Her family names were Duckworth, Abell and Lewis. Thanks for printing the news from the Chariton area. juanita > The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa > Thursday, February 4, 1909 > > DERBY NEWS: > > R.E.
