The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, February 18, 1906 This morning's post brought the Leader the news from Boulder, Colorado, of the death of ASA WHITTEN. The following obituary was read at his funeral: "ASA ALMON WHITTEN was born in Lucas County, Iowa, Oct. 8, 1864, and departed this life at his home in Boulder, Colorado, Feb. 2, 1906, aged 41 years, 3 months and 24 days. At the age of 23 years he united with the Baptist Church at Russell, Iowa, and was ever faithful and steadfast in his belief of a higher and better life, the doctrine of which he at various times proclaimed from the pulpit. He was married to ARMINTA ROWLAND June 12, 1889. To them were born two children, PETRINE, aged 10 years and BETHEL, aged 7 years. Eight years ago last April he removed his family to Boulder where for seven years and until the failure of his health, he edited the "Rocky Mountain Baptist", a paper devoted to the interests of the Baptist Church and the Christian cause.
