The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, July 8, 1909 ENGLISH TOWNSHIP NEWS: MRS. BIRD ENGLAND, who has been in poor health for some time, passed away at her home Saturday morning. She had been able to be out and go every place since spring and only became dangerous a few hours before her death. She leaves a husband and small son, who will greatly miss her. The funeral services were held at the Cain Church at 11 o'clock, Monday, by Rev. McKenzie. Although it was somewhat rainy a large crowd gathered to pay their last respects. The ice cream supper at Central Friday night, proved a success as $37 was taken in. MR. and MRS. G.T. MILLER and children spent Sunday at CHAS. ABRAHAMSON's. MR. and MRS. BERT GILBERT and children spent Sunday afternoon at CYRUS WILLOUGHBY's. MRS. MCDOWELL and daughter, MRS. MYRA WILSON, and two little sons, spent Sunday and Monday near Columbia at FRANK COLWELL's. Those who had planned to celebrate at Columbia, Monday, were a little disappointed when it rained and spoiled their plans. But those from here who celebrated at Lacona Saturday, considered themselves a little ahead of the rest. MR. and MRS.
