The clipping was handed down to me with no identifying information. Obituary may have appeared in the Columbus Gazette. Submitted by Michele Kemp Shockley. Josiah Reed, 97 Goes in Death; Funeral Friday. Josiah S. Reed, 97, died at 6:15 a.m., today at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Coon, 1608 Filmore street, following an illness of four months with a complication of ailments. Mr. Reed was born on Nov. 5, 1849, in Iowa, the son of Nelson and Caroline Van Wagenen Reed, and had lived in this community most of his life. He married Martha Elizabeth Sullenger, Oct. 27th, 1875, at Grandview. Mr. Reed was a member of the former Evangelical church at Grandview. Surviving are one son, Clarence Leeroy Reed, route 6; three daughters, Mrs. Eldora Kemp Gray, Wayne, Mich., Mrs. Charles Coon, Muscatine, and Mrs. Katherine Hartsock, route 6; eight grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his wife, three brothers and five sisters. The body is at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral home and will remain there for services to be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday by the Rev. Dean Buster, of the Grandview Community Church. Interment will be in the Grandview cemetery.
