Jardine, 84-year-old husband of the Reverend Florence Resor Jardine, pastor of the Letts Methodist Church, died in Bellevue Hospital, Muscatine, May 28, at 9:15 p.m. Death terminated a long period of declining health, climaxed by a broken hip suffered about two weeks ago. A native of Scotland, Jardine was born near Glasgow on October 17, 1868, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Jardine. The family came to the U.S. when he was 12 years old, settling in Minnesota. Jardine became an educator and taught in Minnesota for 45 years, retiring about 10 years ago. He was married to the Reverend Florence Resor, in 1937. Besides, the widow, Jardine leaves a son and a daughter by a previous marriage: Archie W. Jardine, Des Moines, and Mrs. James Reed, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and two grandsons. Also surviving are a brother and a sister: William Jardine, of Urbana, Illinois, and Mrs. A.W. Day, Wayzata, Minnesota. Last rites will be conducted at the Letts Methodist Church by Dr. Loren Thomas, of Mt. Pleasant, superintendent of the Burlington district of the Methodist Church, at 2 p.m. Monday. A second service will be held at a later date at Parkers Lake, Minnesota. Burial will be at Parkers Lake. The body is at the Stacy funeral home in Columbus Junction.
