Reply to the message or author by clicking on the link below. *************************************************************************** MESSAGE: (#183349) William Stroup 1889-1953 <http://iagenweb.org/boards/louisa/obituaries/index.cgi?rev=183349> AUTHOR: volunteer DATE: 2/9/2008 at 10:59:48 Surnames: STROUP,ROGERS,CAPAROON,WESTAFLL,DEVORE,RAPTIS Source: Burlington, Iowa, Hawk by Gazette, Saturday, February 7, 1953, page 9 Morning Sun -- William Stroup, a longtime resident of Morning Sun, died February 6 at the Iowa State mental health Institute at Mount pleasant, where he had been a patient for the past several weeks. Stroup was the son of Jacob and Emma Rogers Stroup, and was born at Fort Madison on April 8, 1889. In October 1913, he was married to Ruth Caparoon, who died January 5, 1950. Surviving are four sons and three daughters: Robert Stroup, Birmingham, Alabama; Jacob Stroup, USA, stationed in Germany; William Stroup, Morning Sun; Earl Stroup and Mrs. Lucy Westfall, both of Burlington; Mrs. Dorothy Devore, Wapello, and Mrs. Loretta Raptis of Detroit. The body is at the Pierce funeral home, where last rites will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. Dr. Will M. Hughes, pastor of United Presbyterian Church, will officiate, and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
