She was the last surviving member of the first graduating class of the Winfield high school. Grace Emma Pierce, daughter of L. B. and Leah Bandy Pierce, was born at Manhattan, Kansas, on February 7, 1868. The family settled in Winfield in 1862, and on December 16, 1892. She was married to William H. Price, who died June 23, 1946. Mrs. Price was the oldest living member of the Winfield Presbyterian Church, and was a charter member of the Winfield PEO chapter. She was also a member of the OES and the White Shrine, and had served for many years as a member of the Winfield Library Board. Surviving are a son and a daughter: William Harold Price, Westfield, New Jersey and Mrs. Louise Scott, New Orleans, and a sister, Mrs. Kate Baker of Wapello. Four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. A sister died previously. Last rites were held at the Barton funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial was in Winfield Scott Township Cemetery.
