The son of Robert Stanley and Vera Reeves Jackson, he was born November 2, 1928 at Lamar County, Alabama. He married Ann Queta Woods on February 14, 1952 at Greenville, Mississippi. Bilbo graduated from high school in Vernon, Alabama and he served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the International Operating Engineers Local 234 out of Des Moines, Iowa for 50 years as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed fishing, antique cars, gardening, and lawn mowing. Above all he loved his family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Ann; a son, Ronald & Pam Jackson of Wapello; two daughters, Sandy & Ron Phillips of Wapello and Regina & Scott Barta of Derby, Kansas; a son-in-law, Rich Schnell and family of Wapello; eight grandchildren, James Phillips, Raegan & Mike Caffery, Nick Jackson & Barb Richardson, Joshua & Christine Jackson, Cody Schnell, Casey Schnell, Jacob Barta, and Kaylie Barta; five great grandchildren; his mother, Vera Holley of Sulligent, Alabama; and his brother, Rick Holley of Moundville, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Trudy Schnell; his father, Robert; his step-father, John Holley; a brother, Delano Jackson; and two sisters, Annie Grace Smith and Nell Jackson. The funeral ceremony for Bilbo Jackson will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello, with Pastor Dan Doolin officiating. Burial will follow at the Wapello Cemetery. The casket bearers will be Nickolas Jackson, Joshua Jackson, Mike Caffery, Ron Phillips, Scott Barta, and Dean Brockway. Friends may call from 2:00 to 7:30 PM on Monday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home where the family will meet friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
