The daughter of Faye H. and Vera Walker Jackson, she was born October 18, 1914 at Grandview. She married Everett "Red" Leroy Kemp on December 3, 1932 at Rock Island, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 27, 1971. She resided her entire life in Grandview. Mary Frances graduated from Grandview High School in 1932. Through her early years she had jobs ranging from a nurse's aid to a waitress and a cook, but most of all she was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved to play cards, especially 31, watch game shows and basketball, mostly Iowa Hawkeyes, on television, and cook. She will be remembered most for her egg noodles, potato salad and apple pie. She is survived by five daughters, Vera Lou & Dean Harvey of Surprise, Arizona, Connie Sue & Gil Fogarty of Davenport, Florida, Frances & Dick Wilson of Sun City, Arizona, Shirley Bramble of Muscatine, and Debi & Ron Estabrook of Marshalltown; seventeen grandchildren, Denise (Rick) Oldham, Denny (Marla) Kemp, Dana (Craig) Bonnichsen, Curtis Harvey, Brad (Tami) Wagner, Tim (Dawn) Wagner, Heidi Sterner, Alan (Danette) Wilson, Rhonda (Jeff) Dittman, Shawn (Pam) Kemp, Ted Kemp, Amber (David) Freeman, Eric (Carrie) Bramble, Jayme Bramble, Jennifer Estabrook, Staci (Tory) Moyer, and Matt (Crystal) Estabrook; twenty-five great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Marilyn Kemp of Wapello and Cherolyn Kemp of Letts; good friends, Arnold & Gloria Wittmann and John Gipple; and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett "Red"; two sons, Leonard and Gary; daughter, Charlene; six brothers, Raymond, John, Richard, Melvin, Loren Kay, and Faye Dean; and two sisters, Pauline and Deon. The funeral ceremony for Mary Frances Kemp will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, January 21, 2008, at the Grandview Community Bible Church at Grandview, with Rev. Darryl Erickson officiating. Burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 5:00 PM on Sunday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello where the family will meet friends from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the Grandview Community Bible Church and the Great River Hospice.
