Pleasant, Iowa. The son of Charles E. and Ella Rose Collins Whitington, he was born January 1, 1945 at State Line, Illinois. He married Linda Sue Wolfe on September 22, 1966 at Fairmount, Illinois. Gary graduated from Jamaica High School in Illinois. He was an over the road truck driver for 21 years. He was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church at Fairmount, Illinois and had been a volunteer fireman. He enjoyed trucking, gambling, and a good joke. He is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, James H. & Jenifer Whitington of Oakwood, Illinois and John & Audra Whitington of Eagle Lake, Minnesota; two daughters, Lee Ann & Mike Lihs of Wapello and Shannon & David Williams of Alton, Missouri; ten grandchildren; one great granddaughter; four brothers, Jim Whitington of Danville, Illinois, Terry (his twin) Whitington of Covington, Indiana, Danny Whitington of Danville, Illinois, and Russ Whitington of Charleston, Illinois; and two sisters, Barbara White of Sampson, Alabama and Neomi Freezer of Gary, Indiana. He was preceded in death by parents and four brothers, Charles, John, Larry, and Ronnie. A memorial ceremony for Gary Whitington will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 20, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church at Wapello, with Rev. James H. Huston officiating. He has been cremated. The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello is providing the care and arrangements for Gary 'Tiny' Whitington.
