Fletcher, age 96 of Wapello, died Sunday night, December 18, 1988 at Burlington Medical Center. He was born February 6, 1882 at Washington County, Iowa the son of Roy and Alice Griffith Fletcher. On November 17, 1909 he married Hazel Pearl Jones at Columbus Junction, Iowa. She died November 29, 1965. Harry Fletcher was a farmer and then worked for the Louisa County Engineer's Office, later the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Burlington, was a Louisa County Assessor and also worked for the Louisa County Conservation Office. In his retirement he operated a shop where he sharpened saws. Harry Fletcher was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge, Wapello. Survivors include four daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Edward) Humphreys, Crawfordsville, Verlee Stewart, Wapello, Lorena Boysen, Morning Sun, and Ruth Keller, Great Falls, Montana; two sons, Ronald "Jiggs," Grants, New Mexico and Feryl, Granada Hills, California; twenty-two grandchildren; fifty-six great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchlildren; and one great-great-great- granddaughter. Those preceding him in death include his parents; wife; two daughters, Geneva Simmons and Nelda Breuer; two sons, Harold and Robert; six grandchildren, Pam Keller, Steven Keller, Dean Stewart, Duane Boysen, Judith Fletcher, and Billy Fletcher; and two sisters, Pearl Gipple and Hazel Klopfenstein. Funeral services for Harry Fletcher were to be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 1988 at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, with the Rev. Bill Young officiating. Elsie Stephens was the organist. Casket Bearers were John Humphreys, Dale Stewart, Harold Boysen, Larry Boysen, Gerald Fletcher, Tom Fletcher, Danny Fletcher, Denny Ross, Terry Fletcher, Keith Fletcher and Michael Fletcher. Flower Attendants were Hazel Anderson, Donna Peteson, Marlys Borchert and Beverly Hill. Burial was in the Wapello Cemetery.
