Adams, 84, of Beach Park, IL., died peacefully and surrounded by his family on Thurday, June 23, 2005 at his home. He was born January 25, 1921 in Louisa County, Iowa and has lived in Zion, IL. area for the past 50 years where he was a member of Wesley Free Methodist Church. He was a 20 year retiree of the Navy, retiring as Chief Petty Officer in 1960, and was a Pearl Harbor survivor having served on the USS West Virginia and later on the Soace Hospital Ship. Later he became a licensed Insurance and Investment Broker with Jackson National Life Insurance Company. Howard was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Twyla; children, Bryan (Lynn) Adams of Sun City West, Arizona, Pamela Adams of Gurnee, Illinois, Jarmela (Michael) Cliff of Waukegan, Illinois, Daniel (Connie) Adams of Casper, Wyoming and Jane Adams of Beach Park; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene (Gail) Adams of Buffalo, Iowa; and two sisters, Bernice Mundt of Waverly, Iowa and Wanda Carson of Columbus Junction, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Russell Albert Adams and Pearl (nee Baker) Adams. Funeral services were held on Monday, June 27, 2005, at Wesley Free Methodist Church, 3601 N. Lewis Avenue, Waukegan, Illinois with Pastor Carl Brannon officiating. His interment took place at Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to Sky Lodge Christian Camp, N4855 County Hwy. Y, Montello, Wisconsin 53949, have been suggested.
