Glenn Ash, 78, of Grandview, Iowa, died December 18, 1997, at the VA Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Glenn was born February 23, 1919 at Sigourney, Iowa, the son of Jim and Ethel P. (Woods) Ash. He married Florence Setters on August 31, 1968, in Palmyra, Missouri. Glenn was an Army veteran of World War II, volunteered at the Senior Center in Columbus Junction and Muscatiane, and helped at Christmas time at the Salvation Army. Survivors include his wife, of Grandview; step-sons, Joseph Truitt, Muscatine, Elmer Truitt, Oxford Junction, Bill Adams, Quincy, Illinois, and Jay Adams, of Florida; and step-daughters; Donna Harland, Letts, Velda Evelyn Ehlers, Lost Nation, Carolyn Stanberry and Sheila Pults of Quincy, Illinois. There are twenty-one step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Carrie Byrd, of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers. Funeral services were held December 22 at the Geo M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home in Muscatine. Pallbearers were Chuck Harland, Tony Harland, Charles Ash, Gerald Ash, Melvin Ash and Donald Ash. Honorary pallbearers were Joseph Truitt and Elmer Truitt. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine. Memorials may be made to the Glenn Ash Memorial Fund at the funeral home.
