Babbitt, former long-time grade school teacher in Appanoose and Louisa counties were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fairbanks Home for Funerals in Muscatine. Burial was in Conesville cemetery. Mr. Babbitt who lived many years at Conesville resided the last seven years at Centerville. He was a patient for four days at Riverview Heights Nursing Home, Muscatine where he died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 1961. A son of Henry F. and Alida Pettit Babbitt he was born March 26, 1883 in Appanoose county. He was a member of the Conesville Methodist church. He never married. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Staton, Lone Tree, Mrs. Madge Bangs, Mountain Home, Arkansas; and Mrs. Grace Scott, Des Moines; and two brothers, Vern, Muscatine and Lazelle, Wilton. His parents, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Columbus Gazette
