Erline Reid Adkins, 69, Muscatine, died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 12, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, 1931 Houser St. Lloyd Mansfield will officiate. Casket bearers are Dan Hahn, Elden Hahn, Daryl Bixby, David Foster, Scott Reid and Rob Foor. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Muscatine. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday, July 11, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Church of Christ. Online condolences may be left for the Adkins family at www.wittichfuneralhome.com. Mrs. Adkins was born June 1, 1935, in Columbus Junction, the daughter of Virgil David and Vera Bush Reid. She married Raymond Adkins Sept. 13, 1952, in Muscatine. She had resided in Muscatine since 1954, moving here from Letts. She was a beloved member of the Church of Christ of Muscatine. Her greatest happiness on this earth was her children and family members. Survivors include her mother, Vera Reid Wilson of Muscatine; a daughter, Kathy Drawbaugh and husband Terry Temple of Muscatine; two sons, Kevin Adkins of Pekin, Ill., and Kenneth Adkins and wife Melaine of Des Moines; a longtine companion, Richard Holladay of Muscatine; two grandsons, Adam and Ethen Chitwood of Muscatine; a granddaughter, Ciara Henkhouse and her family of Iowa City; two step-grandsons, Zackery and Andrew Wookey of Muscatine; a stepgranddaughter, Brittany Drawbaugh of Muscatine; two brothers, Wilber Reid and wife Georgia of Letts and Ralph Reid and wife Carol of Cottage Grove, Tenn.; five sisters, Virginia Pendell of Muscatine, Wilma Bixby and husband Lewis of Columbus Junction, Illa Trumbull and husband Den of Lynn Haven, Fla., Mary Sivertsen and husband Gary of New Port Richey, Fla., and Irene Smith and husband Dorlan of Muscatine; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, her husband and a son, Douglas.
