Baker <http://iagenweb.org/boards/louisa/obituaries/index.cgi?rev=226640> AUTHOR: Judy Kelley (vo DATE: 3/12/2009 at 14:25:09 Surnames: BAKER,MCCHESNEY,FLITCH,YAKLE,PAULSON,FRESE Mary Ellen Baker, age 92, of the Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction, formerly of Wapello, died Sunday evening, March 21, 1999, at Colonial Manor. The daughter of John and Lilly (Flitch)McChesney, she was born May 8, 1906 at Toolesboro, Iowa. She was maried to Kenneth Baker, who died in 1967. She was a graduate of the Wapello High School; she owned and operated the Wapello Hotel for several years, and raised and bred shetland ponies. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wapello and was a 71 year member of the Wapello O.E.S. Survivors include: one nephew Joiner Yakle of Wapello; one niece, Joy Paulson of Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Dale and Dean; three sisters, Erma, Alma, and Ruth; and one nephew, David Frese. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 1999, from the Wapello Cemetery, the Rev. Mary Pugh officiating. Open visitation was Wednesday afternoon at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello. A memorial has been established for the Wapello Ambulance and Rescue. Wapello Republican 25, March, 1999
