James Harlan Allen of North Highland, California, died Tuesday, September 24, 1991, he had just celebrated his 102nd birthday. James Harlan (Red) Allen was the son of Minton R. and Louis Elizabeth Jarvis Allen. He was born September 4, 1889, near Columbus Junction. He was married to Anna Wilhelmina Westerman. Mrs. Allen died April 29, 1963. Surviving are the following children; James D. of Winchester, Tennessee; Marian Bowdre of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Raymond of North Highland, California; several grandchildren; two sisters, Mina Hafner of Fairfield; Evelyn Foss of Old Town, Florida; also several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife and son, Glen Lewis Allen, who was the first person from Louisa County missing in action in World War II; and four brothers, Elton, Clement, Reuben, and dClarence. Graveside services were held Saturday afternoon at the Wapello Cemetery under the direction of Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Walker officiating.
