Barko, 87, Muscatine, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at her home. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Kellogg will officiate. Pallbearers are Rob Carlson, John Carlson, Terry Westberg, John Westberg, Kevin Barko and John Teglas. Honorary pallbearers are Faron Pride and Ben Hermel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Senior Circle. Mrs. Barko was born Oct. 27, 1915, in Mahaska County, the daughter of Glenn and Hazel Mae Young Curry Sr. She married Edward A. Barko May 19, 1934, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in 2000. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church. She and her husband raised and sold strawberries for more than 50 years. Survivors include two sons, James Barko and wife Gail of Jenison, Mich. and Donald Barko and wife Janet of Muscatine; two daughters, Janet Westberg and husband Stan of Brantwood, Wis., and Joyce Carlson and husband Dr. Robert Carlson of Wisconsin Dells, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe D. Curry of Columbus Junction; and two sisters, Berniece Seright and Thelma Connor, both of Muscatine. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers and a sister.
