Mrs. Iva Allen died at 12:10 a.m. Friday, June 21, 1963, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, where she had been a patient since Tuesday of last week, following an illness of some length. Iva Mae Hanft, daughter of George and Abbie Boulton Hanft, was born near Columbus City, May 12, 1894, and was aged 69 years, 1 month and 9 days. She moved with her parents to Columbus Junction in early girlhood. She was united in marriage to James Allen, May 21, 1916, who preceded her in death Dec 7, ????. She is survived by one daughter, Beverly Allen of Iowa City, and one son, James Allen of Columbus Junction. One brother, Halle H. Hanft, preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the Stacy Funeral Home and were conducted by the Rev. Hubert Sunderman. Music was by Miss Donna Belle Hughes. Casket bearers were Max Sellers, Donald Howell, Cecil Bryant, Charles Jenkins, Warren Langstaff and Steven Langstaff. Final resting place was at the Columbus City Cemetery.
