Graveside services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, Letts Cemetery, Letts TERRIL, Iowa -- Lyman A. Bailey, 86, Terril, died Friday, Aug.4, 2006, at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls. The Rev. Richard Jensen officiated. Musical selections were provided by organist Margery Pedersen and vocalist Catherine Compton. Casket bearers are Stuart Bailey, Philip Bailey, Adam Bailey, Peter Bailey, Jim Eldridge, and Mark Eldridge. the Rev. Jaye Johnson will officiate the graveside services. Mr. Bailey was born Nov. 6, 1919, in Letts, the son of George and Mabel Wagner Bailey. He married Evon Meyer on June 29, 1952, in Latimer. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a navigator and bombardier. He was a 1948 graduate of Iowa State University. He served as county extension director for Clay and Dickenson counties, was a feed salesman and a local co-op employee. He was a member of Terril United Methodist Church, Kiwanis, American Legion, Masons and ISU Alumni Association. He was a past Lt. Governor of Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis. He was a proud recipient of the Governor's Volunteer Award. He dedicated his life to helping people through his various occupations and as a civic leader. He will be dearly missed bby his family, community and church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Stuart and wife Judy of Tecumseh, Kan. and their daughter, Brooke and Philip and wife Mary of Scandia, Minn. and their children, Adam and wife Sarah, Peter and Laura; a daughter, Sara Compton and husband Randy of Ames and their children, Catherine and Jennifer. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Earl, Ray, Phil and Art; and a sister, Elna Lafayette. Muscatine Journal, Aug. 8, 2006
