Weber <http://iagenweb.org/boards/louisa/obituaries/index.cgi?rev=225300> AUTHOR: David L. Skipto DATE: 3/6/2009 at 12:34:25 Surnames: WEBER,DEPPY,STORY Wapello Republican, Thursday, August 14, 1902. The funeral of Mrs. Rachael F. Weber, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hannah Deppey, took place Saturday from the Long Creek M.E. church at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Schultze of the German M.E. church, and the remains were laid to rest in the Wapello Cemetery. Mrs. Weber was stricken with paralysis, Wednesday of last week, from which she never recovered sufficient even to know her own people. Mrs. Weber was born in Landsendorf, Prussia, on the 18th day of September 1816, and continued to reside there until she grew to maturity. On the 27th day of April, 1841, she was married to George Weber also a native of Landsendorf, and seven years after in the year 1848 they took passage for America. Arriving in America the better opportunities of the boundless west attracted them and shortly after they came to Iowa, settling in this county, near Wapello. On September 10, 1877, Mr. Weber died and since his death his faithful wife has ever looked forward to the time when she too might receive the summons to leave this land for the better one on high. Mrs. Weber was the mother of eight children four of whom survive her: Christian and Henry Weber and Mrs. Hannah Deppey of this county, and Mrs. Caroline Story of Butte, Neb. All but the latter were with their mother at the time of her death. Shortly after the arrival in America, Mrs. Weber with her husband united with the German M.E. Church, and both remained earnest christians until death. Prepared to go at any time at the call of her Maker, she spoke of death as the time when she might be at rest with those she loved so dearly.
