Skipto DATE: 3/6/2009 at 13:00:25 Surnames: PETERS,HAMMOND,TWIGG,WEBER Wapello Republican, Thursday, April 1, 1920. John Peters, a long time resident of Louisa County, and one of the oldest residents of the county, died here last night at 10:30 o'clock, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.R. Hammond, in this place. He had reached the age of 90 years, 2 months and 27 days. He was born near Columbus, Ohio, January 4, 1830. In 1851 he came to Louisa County, and in 1854 was married to Sarah Twigg at Wapello. To this union ten children were born, three of whom are dead. The mother passed away March 17, 1916. The following children survive: Mrs. Ella Weber, Mrs. Ida Hammond, and Wm. Peters, all of Wapello; Ed Peters of Mariaville, Neb.; Charles Peters of Freeborn, Minn.; John Peters of Princeton, Mo., and George Peters of Ponca City, Okla. Funeral services will be held from the Grace M.E. Church tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. F.H. Austermann. Burial in the Wapello Cemetery.
