Aspelmeier, 81, of Winfield dies at Burlington Elmer F. Aspelmeier, 81, Winfield died Friday, April 10, 1981, at the Burlington Medical Center. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 13, at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction. Rev. Denley Ganfield officiated with burial in the Bethel Cemetery, rural Wapello. Donna Belle Hughes was organist. Pall bearers were Dennis Hill, Jay Spillers, Melvin Houston, Terry Knipfer, Howard Ibbotson and Darrell Hewitt. He was born November 29, 1899, in Mediapolis the son of Charles and Ameilia Duermeyer Aspelmeier. He married Emeline Jamison on January 9, 1919, in Danville. She died in 1975. For several years he was the street commissioner in Winfield and lived in Columbus Junction while working in the Quad Cities at John Deere. Survivors include two sons, Walter of East Moline, Illinois, and Forrest of Burlington; three daughters Mrs. Donald (Pauline) Stapp of Columbus Junction, Mrs. Donald (Frances) Smith of Pekin, Illinois, and Mrs. Woodrow (Carol) Skains of Houston, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Also preceding him in death were two granddaughters, one great granddaughter, five brothers and one sister. Columbus Gazette April 16, 1987
