Monday, Nov. 4, Hook's wife, Mildred, died. Sunday at 4 a.m., his mother, Mrs. Amelia Gauss Hook, died in Hershey nursing home, Muscatine. She was 85 years old. Hook is a former deputy sheriff of Louisa county. Mrs. Hook was born at Wapello on March 8, 1872, and was married to Grant Hook on Oct. 15, 1892. They ere married at Burllington. Hook died Aug. 2, 1934. Surviving are the son and a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Beik, also of Wapello. A brother and two sisters also survive: E. F. and Louisa Gauss, both of Shenndoah, and Mrs. Anna Simons, of Albuquerque, N. Mex. Last rites will be conducted at the Dudgeon Funeral home at 2 p.m. Tuesday. the Rev. Bruce Gillis, pastor of First Presbyterian church, will officiate and burial will be in Mallory cemetery, near Toolesboro. unknown newspaper and date
