Mary Ann Adams, 59, Indianola, Iowa, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines, as a result of breast cancer. There will be no visitation. Her body has been donated to the University of Iowa. Memorial services will be held Friday, Sept. 17 at 1:30 p.m. at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation, 1963 Bell Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50315. Mary Ann was born in Burlington, Iowa on July 10, 1940 to Miles and Maralee Schneider Waterhouse. She graduated from Burlington High School and on August 31, 1958 she was united in marriage to Doyle Adams. They moved to Indianola in 1967 and she graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in 1974. She was a Registered Nurse working as a trauma nurse for 20 years. She was a charter member of Mercy Air Life Helicopter Service working as a trauma nurse with Mercy Air Life. She then worked as the Trauma Nurse Coordinator at Mercy Hospital and also for the Mercy Kidney Stone Center before retiring in 1994. Following her retirement she worked part time for trauma services at Mercy Hospital. She was a member of Trinity united Presbyterian Church in Indianola and the Emergency Nurses Association. Mary Ann is survived by her husband Doyle of Indianola; three daughters, Rochelle Graham of Plano, Texas, Marzale Foskick and Kasaundra Adams, both of Kansas City, Missouri; her father, Miles Waterhouse of Wapello, Iowa; one brother, Larry Waterhouse of Phoenix, Arizona; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maralee.
