Bailey, 75, of Webb City, Missouri, formerly of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died Friday, July 19, 1996, at his home, following a short illness. Donald Ray Bailey was born January 8, 1921, in Muscatine, Iowa, to William G. and Nellie Lucille (Paullins) Bailey. He married Alta Mandler September 1, 1946, in Nashua, Iowa. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. Don had been director of research and development for the Cardinal Scale Company, Webb City, until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Glanslammers Bridge Club and the Genealogical Society, Joplin, Missouri. He was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his wife, Alta, Webb City; a son, Kent Bailey, DDS, Gladstone, Missouri; and a daughter, Kristen Bailey, Prairie Villiage, Kansas. Also surviving is a brother, Paul Bailey, Columbus Junction. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial funeral services were held Wednesday, July 24, 1996, at 1:00 pm at the Letts Cemetery, Letts, Iowa. The body was cremated. The Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, was in charge of local arrangements.
