Arnold 96, died Sunday evening, Jan. 13, 1991, at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty, following an extended illness. She was born Oct. 10, 1894, at Cairo, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse and Eugenia Smith Van Horn. On July 2, 1912, she was married to Otis Arnold at Muscatine. The couple farmed in the Atalissa area for many years, moving to West Liberty in 1974. She was a member of the First Church United in West Liberty and the First Church United Women. Survivors include one son, Stewart Arnold, of West Liberty; two daughters, Jessie Stewart, of Atalissa; and Mrs. Harold (Verlee) Williams of Grandview, Iowa. Eleven grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Wednesday Jan 16, at 11 a.m., from the First Church United in West Liberty, with the Rev. Ralph Farmer officiating. Burial will be at the Overman Cemetery at Atalissa. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the West Liberty Chapel of the Barker Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Simpson Memorial Home. Muscatine Journal 14 January 1991
