Skipto DATE: 2/22/2009 at 22:23:08 Surnames: REID,WHEELER,BUSH,BIVENS,FOOR,SKIDMORE,ADKINS,BIXBY,FOSTER,STAGER,BRIGGS,CASSABAUM,JOHNSON Virgil Reid of Letts died at 6:25 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 1976, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, at the age of 63 years, 5 months and 28 days. Virgil David Reid was born October 13, 1912, in Wapello, the son of David and Lydia Margarette Wheeler Reid. He was married to Vera Bush, February 21, 1933, in Rock Island. He had been a farmer all of his life. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Wilber Reid and Ralph Reid, both of Letts; six daughters, Mrs. Mary Bivens of Muscatine, Mrs. Donald (Irene) Foor of Fruitland, Mrs. Elmer (Virginia) Skidmore of Fruitland, Mrs. Erline Adkins of Muscatin;e, Mrs. Lewis (Wilma) Bixby of Coal Valley, Ill., Mrs. Dale (Illa) Foster of Muscatine; two brothers, Orville Reid of Letts and Richard Reid of Columbus Junction; four sisters, Mrs. Mildred Stager of Columbus City, Mrs. Merle Briggs of Wapello, Mrs. Verlee Cassabaum of Columbus Junction and Mrs. Clair (Dorothy) Johnson of Columbus Junction; and 25 grandchildren. Precedding him in death was one brother and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home with Rev. Don Kinyon of Muscatine officiating. Miss Donna Belle Hughes was organist. Casket bearers were Garry Reid, Eugene Cassabaum, John Briggs, Dallas Reid, Junior Briggs and Walter Bush. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.
