Skipto DATE: 2/27/2009 at 23:52:55 Surnames: ARTHUR,DAVIS,HOLMES,MITCHELL,STARTSMAN Milo Arthur, 68-year-old Ainsworth resident, died Thursday morning, June 1, 1965 at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City following a three-month illness. Mr. Arthur was born October 12, 1896 in Louisa County, a son of William and Nellie Davis Arthur. He was reared in the Cotter community and married July 16, 1930 to Irene Holmes. For a number of years they were residents of the Columbus Junction community. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church at Ainsworth, the Masonic Lodge, American Legion and World War I Barracks. He was a carpenter until retiring in 1956. Survivors are his wife; one son, James Edward of Ainsworth; one daughter Mrs. William (Majel) Mitchell of Fairfield; four grandchildren; three sisters Mrs. Florence Startsman and Ann Arthur of Sacramento, California and Mrs. Edith Billion of tempe, Arizona; and three brothers; Tudor of Burlington, Richard of Garden Grove, California and Joe of Richfield, California. Funeral services were held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the Ainsworth United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dale Brehler and Rev. Vernon Wortman in charge. Pallbearers were Orie O'Conner, Joe Jones, Charles Thompson, Cleo Orris, Dee Hunt and Robert Megchelsen. Milatary rites at the graveside were conducted by the Ainsworth American Legon. Norbert Norris was acting commander. The Masons attended in a group. Burial was in Ainsworth Cemetery. Amonge those in attendance at the service from a distance were Mr. Joe Arthur, Richfield, California; Miss Ann Arthur, Sacramento, California and Mr. and Mrs. Tudor Arthur, Burlington; two brothers and a sister of Mr. Arthur.
