Reply to the message or author by clicking on the link below. *************************************************************************** MESSAGE: (#222156) Judge Oscar Hale <http://iagenweb.org/boards/louisa/obituaries/index.cgi?rev=222156> AUTHOR: volunteer DATE: 2/19/2009 at 22:57:52 Surnames: HALE Judge Hale Rites Held at Wapello Wapello - Final rites for Oscar Hale, supreme court justice, who passed away in the Burlington hospital Saturday morning, were held at the Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Dr. H.J. Findlay, of Burlington, supply pastor of the local church. Mrs. Don Brown was at the organ and Mesdames Pauline Dudgeon, Grace Oakes, Mary Garrett, Lillian Keck, Mary Fraser, and Miss Ada Smith were in charge of flowers. The Louisa County court house and the stores were closed during the hour of service. Member[s] of the bar associations of Henry, Des Moines and Louisa counties, the Louisa conty officials and members of Wapello lodge No. 5, A.F. and A.M. attended in body, the Masonic order giving the ritualistic memorial service. Burial was in the Mallory cemetery with E.R. Hicklin, W. O. Weaver, Dean H. Parsons, A. Don Parsons, A. W. Hinderman and George Oakes as pallbearers. The honorary pallbearers were the chief justice and associate justices of the supreme court and the judges of the 20th judicial district of Iowa. Date Dec. 12, 1950 - unknown newspaper.
