Skipto DATE: 2/27/2009 at 11:21:48 Surnames: ARINGDALE,SHOOK,HARTER,SMITH Frede Aringdale, 93, of Columbus Junction, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1993 at Colonal Manor Care Center. Born Dec. 29, 1899 in Columbus Junction, he was the son of Charles and Ella Shook Aringdale. He married Bertha Mae Harter on March 19, 1931, at Hamilton, IL. She died July 5, 1961. He then married Aline Johnson Smith March 19, 1979, in Washington, She died Dec. 27, 1989. Mr. Aringdale was a lifelong farmer in the Columbus Junction area. He was a 70-plus year member of Spring Run United Methodist Church, serving on the church board and several committees. He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge 365, serving as past Grand Degree Officer both at a state and local level. He had also served as the Elm Grove Township assessor for 13 years and on the ASCS Township committee. He was noted for having neighborhood Halloween parties at his home for 12 years. Survivors include a brother, Frank Aringdale of Mount Pleasant, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, two stepchildren and a step-granddaughter. Visitation was Friday at Stacy-lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction. The funeral for Mr. Aringdale was at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. Burial was in Columbus City Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
