The son of N.T. and Ellen Bedwell Hafner, he was born January 15, 1895 in cedar township, Muscatine county. he married Aura Wilhelme in Muscatine, December 13, 1915. He was a member of the Letts Methodist church and an active member of the Weleyan Sunday school class. Survivors include his father, N.T. Hafner of Letts; his wife; two sons, Vernon of Muscatine and Max of Wilton; one daughter, Mrs. Louise Estle of Letts; two brothers, Lester of Letts and Hubert of Muscatine; four sisters, Mrs. Russell Gilkey of Columus Junction; Mrs. Ray Swickard of Muscatine, Mrs. Rice Shellabarger of Hardin, Montana, and Mrs. Ernst Lieberknecht of Letts and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and two sister, Mary and Opal. Final rites for Guy V. Hafner were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in the Letts Methodist church with the Rev. Paul Textor officiating. Piano and organ selections were provided for the service by Mrs. Harry Gipple and Mrs. Geo. Crist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Hall Estle, Mrs. Arthur Thompson, Mrs. John Padgett and Mrs. Clyde Turkington. Casket bearers were Arthur Thompson, Harry Tomfeld, Lawrence Estle, Hall Estle, John Padgett and Wilmot Hendrix. Burial was in the Letts cemetery. Source: an old scrapbook
