Elmer Armstrong of Columbus Junction, Iowa was held at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 1998, at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction, Iowa. Burial will be in the Ash Grove Cemetery, Windsor, Illinois, Thursday, May 21 at 11:00 a.m. with military rites. Visitation was held Sunday afternoon at the funeral home with the family present from 3-5 p.m. Rev. Armstrong died Thursday, May 14, 1998 at Burlington Medical Center, Burlington, Iowa. A memorial has been established at the funeral home. Elmer Arthur Armstrong was born October 23, 1943 in Shelby county, near Tower Hill, Illinois to Arthur Albert and Anna May Girard Armstrong. He married Sharon R. Sims, December 23, 1964 in Windsor, Illinois. Elmer Armstrong was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the Marine Corp. He was a Boy Scout Leader in the community for several years. Elmer was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt mushrooms. Rev. Elmer Armstrong had been Pastor at the Pleasant Grove Community Church, Columbus Junction from 1974 until 1989. Elmer is survived by his wife, Sharon, Columbus Junction; two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Darren (Tina) Hartman, Conesville and Tara Armstrong, at home, Columbus Junction. Also surviving is a stepgrandson, Joshua Hartman, Defiance, Ohio. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Wapello Republican
